Saint Elizabeth of Hungary

Web-Ready-St.Elizabeth-of-Hungary Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was a model of Christian charity.

Saint Elizabeth wears “the attire of a sovereign princess,” (Jameson 352), a crown and a robe of purple. She also appears with her “appropriate attribute a lapful of roses,” which symbolized “the incident where she was taking food to the poor and when, upon meeting her husband, who demanded to see what it was she carried, opened her apron and it was full of roses.”

In the predella, Elizabeth is shown doing one of her many charitable deeds, feeding the hungry.
